Venus in Bloom
Medium: Cement & Plaster
Dimensions: 60 H x 20 W 20 L (inches)
Notes: Although Venus represents the Roman goddess of love to most people, she is also the goddess of spring and gardens. The maquette for this piece was originally
designed as the climax of several motifs showing the struggle towards greater consciousness. Venus grew out of the request of a woman for a sculpture which symbolized her personal and spiritual development. Although she had a great idea, she had not arranged how to pay for the sculpture. I thought the subject was wonderful and finished it for my own collection. Two such pieces have been created, but being handcrafted, they are not exactly the same. To distinguish between the two, the second has the title: Venus in Flower. (1996)
