Hug
Medium: Stone (marble)
Dimensions: 14 H x 4 W x 5 L (inches)
Notes: This piece was created in 1992 as an experiment in working with marble. Clay is endlessly forgiving, whereas stone has little tolerance for experimentation. Having watched as fellow sculptor ruin many a stone because he did not make any preliminary studies, I first make a clay or wax maquette to guide me as I sculpt the stone. (1992)
