About the Work (from Oeno Gallery in Ontario.)
A stainless steel cube is laser cut on three sides with the outline of a digital circuit board in this intriguing outdoor sculpture by Jake Goertzen. Beneath each of the three sides is a reflective coating of lively turquoise-green, sky blue and cerise. A former engineer, the artist pulls on his knowledge of mathematics in titling the work -- a platonic solid is a three dimensional shape with many identical surfaces such as a cube (hexahedron) whose faces are six congruent squares. This work is the Artist's Proof from an edition of 20. It can be commissioned in varying sizes. Base is 36" in diameter. Sculpting in a range of materials -- steel, marble, terra cotta and bronze -- Jake Goertzen has completed commissions for realist and inventive abstract pieces now on exhibit across Canada in private and public locations. Goertzen has studied at the Brentwood Art Center, the Santa Monica Fine Art Studio, both in California and the Forum Art Studio in Winnipeg. In addition, he holds a BA in History and a degree in Engineering. Goertzen creates emotive sculptures both indoor and outdoor in a range of sizes from figurine to life size and monumental. (2020)

About the Work (from Oeno Gallery.)
Canadian artist Jake Goertzen creates a symmetrical design with six stainless steel rings in this elegant outdoor sculpture. This piece is the Artist's Proof from an edition of 20. Base plate measures 60 " wide x 18" deep and is bolted to concrete. This sculpture is also available by commission. "The circle is associated with wholeness, symmetry, harmony, and well-being. It is a pleasing, symmetrical shape we see in the universe and in nature. A conference of concentric circles only amplifies these sentiments. This particular design is only one of several I experiment with, but all are pleasing to the eye." - Jake Goertzen Sculpting in a range of materials -- steel, marble, terra cotta and bronze -- Jake Goertzen has completed commissions for realist and inventive abstract pieces now on exhibit across Canada in private and public locations. Morden Apothecary Logo
Medium: Stainless steel
Dimensions: 8 ft x 4.5 ft.
Notes: The logo was designed by the owner. It was a two-dimensional drawing. I built the box and the leaf and flower motif using stainless steel. The abstract figure was made of concrete that I took to an aluminum foundry, which used these pieces to cast the pieces in solid aluminum using the sand-casting method.

Plum Crazy Crescents
Medium: Steel
Dimensions: 28 inches high
Notes: These crescents are cut from flat steel. They are waste from the laser cutting industry which cuts parts for the metal fabricators. I use them for table supports, abstract work, etc. When the parts are bent in a die with a double curvature, they take on new life as the flat parts are then three-dimensional and have a new character entirely and offer new possibilities for sculpture.
